Within the $200 Billion worldwide collectibles market, there are many unique categories. At Hip eCommerce, our goal is to deliver a reimagined customer experience for both buyers and sellers. How are we doing that? We create category-specific marketplaces, built from the ground up, that understand how collectors browse, search and collect each type of collectible. We currently operate three marketplaces--HipComic, HipStamp, and HipPostcard--and plan to grow into other categories in the future. Since our 2016 launch, our marketplaces have gained 2,000+ Sellers, 200,000+ Buyers, and 12 Million+ Listings and we just raised a $5 Million+ Series A round to expand our team and continue building the next great e-commerce company. We’re a fully distributed company, which means our entire team works remotely full-time. By removing the geographic requirements of an office, we’re able to hire the best, which means you’re working with the best. With team members across the United States, Philippines, and South America, we foster a culture that values collaboration and connection. To help facilitate that, our team members are primarily working standard Eastern Time hours.
About the Finance & People Team
We currently have small, separate teams across Accounting & Finance, People Operations, and Hip Collectibles (our direct buying and selling division) and, while these teams already work closely together, it’s time to officially unify them under a single department called Finance & People. This department is poised to grow, and with time, additional functions (Legal, IT, and Analytics) will also join the group.
About the Role
As VP of Finance & People, you’ll report directly to the CEO, and be a key member of the Executive Team at Hip eCommerce. You will oversee our global finance operations, as well as manage all aspects of People Operations while leading and supporting Hip eCommerce’s culture and values as we scale our company. Additionally, you will develop business intelligence strategies and deliver actionable reporting, well rounded insights as well as proactive recommendations to ensure robust business health metrics built with effective and efficient reporting and tools.
How you’ll spend your time:
Define, drive, align, evangelize, and deploy the vision, strategies, initiatives, and talent necessary to create and mature Hip eCommerce’s’ Finance, People and Analytics capability.
Sophisticated financial modeling - build models from scratch, improve existing models, and break complex models down into components that consolidate
Develop and enable Hip eCommerce’s strategies across People Operations - including: Performance Management, Engagement & Culture, Talent Planning & Selection, Compensation and Benefits
Creating a best-in-class employee experience, with an emphasis on engagement, development, retention and culture
Utilizes innovative technologies and leverage both internal and external talent to develop an advanced data and decision analytics capability that can be leveraged by Hip eCommerce to solve problems and drive profitable actions
Apply business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision making related to new initiatives, products, and business opportunities
Use analytics and build reporting solutions to help our teams manage operations, drive automation, solve day to day problems, and understand key performance metrics and trends
We’re excited about you if you have:
3+ years of people management experience and experience developing and leading strategic finance, people, and/or analytics teams.
5+ years of experience designing, deploying data and analytics solutions.
Outstanding finance and analytical skills - standard methodologies are second-nature, your models are efficient, scalable, and intuitive
A vast understanding and experience with eCommerce KPIs such CAC and LTV and experience building comprehensive models around Cohorts.
The ability to project how decisions made today will financially impact the business in out-years
Advanced Experience with Excel/GSheets and SQL
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

The ability to prioritize - we are consistently working on multiple projects at any given time, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-growing startup environment and has the ability to optimally multitask
Experience delivering business insights and solutions through statistical modeling
Proficiency in one or more data visualization tools or platforms (Tableau, Looker etc.)
