Within the $200 Billion worldwide collectibles market, there are many unique categories. At Hip eCommerce, our goal is to deliver a reimagined customer experience for both buyers and sellers. How are we doing that? We create category-specific marketplaces, built from the ground up, that understand how collectors browse, search and collect each type of collectible. We currently operate three marketplaces--HipComic, HipStamp, and HipPostcard--and plan to grow into other categories in the future. With team members across the United States, Philippines, and South America, we foster a culture that values collaboration and connection. Our Technology team takes great pride in creating outstanding software, but takes even more pride in product ownership, bringing ideas from concepts, to MVPs, further iterations, and beyond. About the Role
As our first Engineering Manager, you’ll manage pods filled with highly-motivated engineers who use agile methodologies (scrum) to design and build high-availability enterprise software solutions for our Marketplaces. You’ll serve as a strong leader to development and direction for our Software Engineers. Successful candidates will need to be self-motivated, collaborative, and have a proven ability to lead successful engineering teams focused on delivering quality products.
How you’ll spend your time:
Managing personnel activities for all team members including career development, mentoring, motivating, performance reviews, and hiring.
Building and leading a strong and engaged team focused on delivering quality products
Clearly defining and communicating work responsibilities to team members.
Guarding the team from distractions.
Partnering with other departments to standardize development, testing, and release processes in order to optimize product delivery
Observing and communicating team metrics to ensure the team is well-functioning, creating action plans as necessary.
We’re excited about you if you have:
5 - 8 years of software development experience.
5+ years of management and leadership experience.
Experience leading and collaborating with remote employees and contractors across multiple time zones.
Experience with development and project lifecycle methodologies.
The ability to successfully plan, organize, prioritize, execute, and delegate work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
